Following the Sound

Nothin’ But The Blood

Nothin' But The Blood

Music has always been the thread keeping the shirt on my back and my coat collar high when I’ve had the blues. Melodies and footsteps go hand in hand and I am thrilled as much these days by the warbling and music of the birds in my back yard at different times of the day, just beautiful music. Just as I am in the memory of me as a young kid with a harp in my mouth making sounds, staring intently at my grandmother playing the banjo. I had absolutely no idea what she was doing, but the sounds she was making really moved me.

My journey started long ago and it is, as of this writing, not finished yet. While I am quite private, I am not a recluse by any means. Friendships are indeed a valuable commodity. These four lads who for a time received the offerings of the muses and helped shape a sound are all still so very valuable.

Freedom Alley was a splash in their own pool of music. They never made it big or got signed by a label. There never really was a world tour. Getting recognized wasn’t in the cards as they were rather intent on chasing a sound. In the course of life, where getting by is still a challenge, finding opportunities is never a given. What the boys did with their music both honored and transcended what came before. Like the bloodlines that prepared the way, they played the hand that was dealt them. They followed the sound and what they came up with hopefully was pleasing to the muses.
