Time Marches On

Angel

Everybody has had someone close to them, whether friend or family, leave this world for another. Sometimes, the separation is a normal progression of the mandate of time. Maybe cancer has taken them after a life well lived. Perhaps there was a sudden interruption of the time spectrum by some ungodly, tragic twist of fate. For those left on this earthly plane, there is a resignation that comes after the initial shock has worn off. Until it is our time to depart, we have to deal with the aftermath. Time marches on. There will always be a past to call up with a loved one to miss. No amount of time will heal the hurt.

Beautiful, Sister, time marches on.
Sister Deb, portrait of a lady.

My sister would have turned 65 this year, probably enjoying the springtime coming on. She would be excited moving all the indoor seedlings she had started in the winter months to the outside garden. Her designation as a master gardener in Carroll County came naturally. There were also many other skills she was adept at through the years, including photography, writing and yes, drinking.

Now, if you need a counseling session, AA is a good web site to start. They have phone numbers and information, testimonials and resources. Face the notion that a lower power got you into this mess and a higher power will help you out. Seek help. Your life is worth it, whoever you are.

If you want to get into the spiritual side of things, God is right there with you. All you have to do is start talking, He’ll listen and He’ll hear ya.

Drinking also is considered only a sad escape. Some say a sinful affliction telling its own sad story where tales of debauchery turn into nightmares of reality.

Then again, this little parable has nothing to do with AA or interventions or any of that stuff. My sister is gone, so it won’t help her now. While she was here, she did drink and her reasons are now her own, between her and that higher power.

What a beautiful portrait of our beloved Debbie – complicated, troubled, yet so gifted and loving. I envision her and Don dancing in heaven
