Streets of Suffering

Where the streets of suffering begin
Main Street at the Courthouse Square.

Take a fast ride on a slow route

Make your way through the streets of sin

It’s a nightmare of justice just to witness

Cold hearts wind their way from without to within

Friends and neighbors are no longer willing

To stand by your side

Seems a crime to be human, unless my friend

You can tell the reception that you’ve slept with the bride

Now the giants of small talk have no wonder, no excuse

You see they’re happy, most happy to say

There’s a yearning to remember only the meaningless thoughts

That they hold forth today

Crazy meandering through the streets of suffering

All the wheelers and dealers bargain for big money

Crime is too big, can’t be covered by law

You know it’s just too sad to be funny

It ain’t funny no more
